Tuesdays With Spirit and Soul: A Film Series on Conscious Aging

UCR Osher Lifelong LearningUCR Palm Desert Center, and UCR Extension along with The Peacock Solution and Graceful Passages presented Tuesdays With Spirit and Soul, a four-part documentary film series designed to start mindful conversations. Tuesdays With Spirit and Soul explored the concepts of empowerment, challenging cultural norms, and cultivating a more meaningful, authentic life. Each screening was followed by a brief discussion. All UCR Palm Desert events are free and open to the public, including parking.

Apr. 28, 2015: "Death Makes Life Possible"

Can facing our own mortality inspire us to live our lives more fully? That's the question this fascinating documentary aims to answer while exploring the mysteries of life (and death) from a variety of perspectives and world traditions. The film features scientists, anthropologists, philosophers, and spiritual thinkers, discussing the fear that surrounds death and how to live without it.

Apr. 21, 2015: "Happy"

Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Roko Belic devoted four years of his life to answering one question: What makes people happy? Belic takes viewers to 14 different countries to answer that question, combining research with individual experiences.

Apr. 14, 2015: "A Small Section of the World"

This is the inspirational story of a group of Costa Rican women from a remote farming region whose ideas sparked a revolution in the coffee growing industry. With perseverance and resourcefulness, these women overcame great odds to make a big difference in their section of the world.

Apr. 7, 2015: "For the Next 7 Generations: The Grandmothers Speak"

This documentary follows the International Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers, a group of female elders who focus on global, environmental and social justice issues, as they travel. A powerful message about facilitating alliances across race, class and ethnicity.
