Coachella Valley Literacy Network
About the Coachella Valley Literacy Network
In June 2008, in support of a UCR initiative to improve college-going rates, UCR Palm Desert Graduate Center launched a Coachella Valley-wide conversation on literacy among several organizations that provide literacy services in the area. After two meetings, the Coachella Valley Literacy Network was created. Comprised of various community literacy programs, the network is focused on increasing literacy rates and supporting and strengthening literacy efforts in the region.
Members of the Coachella Valley Literacy Network have been meeting to define the groups' role and outline an action plan for the next 12-18 months. This site represents some of the action taken to date.
The Network expects its role to evolve as the group becomes more actively involved in the community. Recommendations, suggestions and ideas on how the Network can have a higher impact in our community are welcome.
